The Aquitaine Region, Official Partner

The Aquitaine Region, unifying partner and founder...

The members of the Aquitaine Regional Council are convinced that Yves PARLIER's new project is based on the right technological choices and will have excellent impact on the local economy education and sport as well as attracting excellent media coverage .They have thus voted to channel 4.5 million Euros in investment subsidies for the period 2001-2006 into research and business organizations aimed at assisting this local mariner to achieve further successes.

The Aquitaine Regional Council is thus strengthening its position as unifying partner and founder of this project, which has developed out of research by a young team of engineers and several companies in the area.

… of the motivating project…

Besides meeting a sporting challenge, research centres, in conjunction with local firms, will design and build a new concept multi-hulled craft, thus continuing to foster the development of high-tech industry in Aquitaine.

The Aquitaine Regional Council feel that it is important to motivate the entire region's energies around this high profile, innovative research project.

Designing and building the boat will involve firms in a variety of high-tech fields, including about ten Aquitaine-based SMEs (CTA, Windsat, Seastem, Retec, etc.), as well as laboratories (LAMEFIP), and major industrial groups, such as CEA CESTA, EADS ST, DGA, the European Space Agency (ESA), IBM and SME (SNPE Matériaux Energétiques, a subsidiary of the SNPE group).

… has stimulated the innovation sector and generated jobs

This project gives companies in the area an opportunity to meet new technological challenges, thus creating employment and reinforcing their aptitude for solving complex problems. Approximately thirty local firms will be involved in subcontracting on this project, representing some 60 additional jobs. Furthermore, 35 jobs and 3 new firms (Profils Composites, Windsat et Seastem) directly related to Yves PARLIER's project have been created since August 2001.

The Parlier team will also benefit from three new facilities built as a result of this project: Aquitaine Design Team, a shipbuilding research and development unit, Aquitaine Jeunes Talents, a prototype testing centre, and a shipyard at Larros on Arcachon Bay. The Aquitaine region is a partner of Yves Parlier’s since 1984.
